Job Summary As a Meat Manager, you will lead our meat department and oversee all aspects of meat operations, including ordering, inventory management, and customer service. Your responsibilities will include supervising and training meat department staff, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards, and ensuring compliance with food safety regulations. Join us in providing leadership and guidance to our team members and delivering excellence in every aspect of our meat department. Examples of Duties Manage all aspects of the meat department, including ordering, receiving, pricing, and merchandising of products. Supervise meat department staff, including scheduling, training, and performance management. Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and sanitation standards, including proper handling and storage of meats. Monitor inventory levels by ordering and restocking to meet customer demand. Prepare and cut meats according to customer specifications, ensuring quality and freshness. Provide assistance and guidance to customers in selecting meats and answering questions about cuts, preparation methods, and cooking tips. Conduct regular inspections of the meat department to ensure cleanliness, organization, and compliance with company policies. Collaborate with store management and other department managers to achieve department goals and objectives. Knowledge Knowledge of meat cutting techniques, including portioning, trimming, and slicing. Understanding of food safety regulations and sanitation practices. Familiarity with different cuts of meat and their uses. Knowledge of inventory management principles and retail operations. Skills Leadership: Ability to lead and motivate a team to achieve department goals and provide excellent service. Communication: Clear and effective communication skills for interacting with customers, staff, and management. Problem‑Solving: Ability to identify issues and develop solutions to address them. Organization: Skill in managing tasks and priorities to ensure efficient department operations. Abilities Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift and carry heavy objects. Adaptability: Flexibility to adjust to changing priorities and handle various tasks as needed. Customer Service: Commitment to providing exceptional service and meeting the needs of customers. Teamwork: Collaboration with coworkers and management to achieve department goals and provide excellent service. Time Management: Ability to manage time effectively to complete all tasks within the department while supervising the productivity of employees within the department. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience as a meat cutter or butcher. Proven experience in retail management, preferably in a meat department.
