QA Tester

Hilton is currently integrating data into a marketing data warehouse. Data is coming from various places campaign lists, marketing reports, email lists, etc. Main task for the development team is changing SQL code on campaigns and QAs will be validating that it works. SQL devs will be updating the code to reference the new data sets, QAs will be testing the functionality to make sure the code is written correctly, make sure the new stored procedure is running smooth with new data set. This will be basic QA/UAT Testing – need to be able to read and write basic SQL queries to research and find the bug, make corrections and report on it. Team is made up to 2 devs and 1 QA. Main tool they are using is MS SQL (SQL Server Management Studio) – platform they use to write SQL.

QA Tech Questions:

• How many years of QA experience are you targeting? Very junior, only need basic SQL and UAT testing
• What kind of applications does your team support? Testing data sets in a database
• What types of documentation will the QA be responsible for? No formal documentation
• What testing tools does your team utilize? Test Management – Excel and MS SQL. Defect Tracking – Excel and MS SQL. Automation – NA

Top 3 – 5 Must-Have Requirements:

• UAT testing or basic QA testing
• Ability to read and write basic SQL queries
• Excel
• Good reporting skills – organized, what have you gotten done for the week, what is scope of work, etc

Plusses / Preferred Experience:

• MS SQL (SQL Server Management Studio) – HIGHLY PREFFERED
• SSIS

Level (Junior/Mid/Senior – Years of experience): junior

Soft Skills/Company Culture: Organized, good reporting skills
