Lead Construction Safety Manager Location: San Antonio, TX Duration: 24+ Months (Immediate Need) Type: 1099 Contractor Compensation & Schedule Pay Rate: $52/hr Per Diem: $125/Day (7 Days Per Week) for candidates residing more than 50 miles from the project location Completion Bonus: $150/month Pay Frequency: Weekly Schedule: Monday-Friday | 40 Hours Per Week Possible Overtime and Approximately One Saturday Per Month Why This Opportunity? Join a General Contractor supporting the construction of a high-profile museum and visitor center project in San Antonio, TX. This unique project combines new construction with the preservation and integration of a historic building facade, requiring coordination across multiple trades and construction disciplines. This role offers the opportunity to serve as the lead safety professional onsite, providing oversight for all construction activities while partnering closely with project leadership, subcontractors, and craft personnel throughout a multi-year project. Required Qualifications OSHA 510 Certification Lead Construction Safety Manager experience 5+ years of experience as a Construction Safety Manager Experience coordinating safety efforts across multiple trades and subcontractors Preferred Qualifications General Contractor safety experience Museum, historical renovation, or commercial construction experience Experience supporting large-scale multi-trade construction projects CHST, ASP, CSP, SMS, or other BCSP credential Experience working on occupied, public-facing, or historically significant projects What You'll Be Doing Lead all onsite safety operations for the project Conduct routine site inspections, audits, and risk assessments Monitor contractor compliance with OSHA regulations and project safety requirements Coordinate safety efforts across all trades and subcontractors Lead incident investigations and corrective action implementation Deliver site orientations and ongoing safety training Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), permits, and pre-task plans Maintain safety documentation, reports, and compliance records Partner with project management and field supervision to proactively identify and mitigate hazards Support safe work practices during demolition, renovation, structural, concrete, steel, mechanical, electrical, and finish work activities Promote a positive safety culture across the project Technical Knowledge Candidates should have working knowledge of: OSHA Construction Standards General Contractor Safety Management Multi-Trade Construction Operations Historic Preservation & Renovation Construction Activities Structural Construction Safety Concrete Construction Safety Steel Erection Activities Fall Protection & Elevated Work Activities Scaffold Safety Material Handling Operations Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) Development Incident Investigation & Root Cause Analysis Contractor Safety Management Construction Risk Assessment & Mitigation What Success Looks Like The ideal candidate is a highly visible, field-focused safety leader who can effectively coordinate multiple trades, build strong relationships with project leadership and subcontractors, proactively identify hazards, and support the safe execution of all phases of construction while maintaining production goals.
